School Meals

School Meals at Lammack are Wonderful!

Children have a choice of hot and cold meals based on healthy menus and there is a choice of standard or Hal-Al meats. Below are listed some of the typical menus.

Sorry no chips, burgers or turkey twizzlers! We were very proud to be awarded the Healthy Eating Standard in June 2005. For children who prefer cold lunches our ‘Grab 5’ menu is very popular. There is a choice of sandwich fillings, cake, fruit, low fat crisps and fresh orange juice. Alongside both hot and cold meals we have a salad bar where children can choose from lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, carrot, strawberries, grapes, pineapple, kiwi fruit, coleslaw and pasta salad. All children taking a school meal have a carton of water to accompany their meal.

Children may try school meals for a week to see if they like them. Please see Mrs Cooper in the office to book these meals. The cost of school meals is £9 per week from April 7th 2008. Payment should be sent in an envelope each Monday marked with the child’s name. (Cheques made payable to Lammack Primary School). A weeks notice in writing is requested for changes.

Children may also bring a packed lunch to school and we encourage parents to follow healthy guidelines. Please avoid sweets, high fat crisps, chocolate bars and fizzy drinks. At Lammack, children are looked after during lunchtimes by Mrs Barbara Seddon and a superb team of caring welfare staff. Parents are most welcome to come and sample one of our meals. We have a School Meals Committee of children who monitor the success of our menus. At playtime each morning we have a healthy Tuck Shop. Fruit Smoothies, Toasted Fruit Loaf, Fruit bites in various varieties, Orange and water. Junior classes may buy tuck on three mornings per week. Children in Years 1 and 2 may buy tuck on Friday mornings.
